How To Do a Tarot Reading
Many people have the misconception that tarot is made to predict the future, but it is instead intended to guide you on your path and affect your future. If I told you that you would buy a car, it wouldn’t be very helpful if I didn’t tell you how to do so. A huge point of tarot cards is they tell you when to turn back, when to persevere, and when to reevaluate your surroundings. There are many ways cards can be interpreted and it is best to keep an open mind about the questions you’re seeking answers to.
Before you begin a reading, it is always best to take a look at the cards and have a basic understanding of what they each mean. Make sure when you’re asking questions, you keep them open-ended (with the exception of Yes/No readings). A great way to start off your readings is to ask a Who, What, When, Where, Why or How question to make sure you’re not backing yourself into a corner. A lot of cards points towards specific types of people in your career or love life (i.e. older mentors or potential love interests). Knowing your cards is essential to knowing the right questions to ask to get the most of a reading.
Shuffling and pulling cards is so unique to each individual reader, similar to a card dealer. Everyone shuffles the cards a different way and pulls their cards a different way. There is no right or wrong way to pull cards. You can fan them out and grab the one that speaks to you specifically. You can cut the deck. You can draw from the top of piles. Turn them face up one by one to be able to intuit exactly what they are trying to tell you and how they interact.
